And sign up for our e-newsletter, where we'll be sharing great tips for
publicises events in the run up to the Day.
There are a number of ways to promote your events:
- Free online events register - No Smoking Day has a free online events register and it is very easy to use! You'll be able to fill in the form quickly and easily. Remember to put as much information as possible because smokers, journalists and local MPs will be checking the website to find their nearest and most interesting event. The No Smoking Day team will be able to promote your event too when we receive media calls!
- 'Swiss cheese' template press releases - it is really important to give your local media as much notice as possible about your events and keep them excited. No Smoking Day will be writing template releases with lots of holes (hence the name 'Swiss cheese') which you just have to fill in with your local information. How easy is that?! Then send out the press release to your local media and follow up with a phone call a few days later. There will be a countdown from January so keep checking the website for new template releases.
- Media contacts in your area - you may already have
contacts at your local paper or radio station but if you don't, never
fear - we can provide them! Email the No Smoking Day team at enquiries@nosmokingday.org.uk
with the following information:
- Name
- Organisation
- Phone number
- Town/city/region you want media contacts for
- Online PR Guide - No Smoking Day's online PR

your events. It's written by media professionals so the insight they offer
is essential. It provides advice on:
- Developing key messages for media work
